This one is important to me for a few reasons: it was the first mixtape I made which Turntable Lab agreed to sell, which I think dates it around 2000.  Scott at Ten Deep did the art.  I remember I was asked to DJ an eighties party in like 1998 and I didn’t have enough eighties vinyl so I borrowed a crate from my friend Eli (aka Photocall); from then on I was hooked, and started building up my own collection, mostly digging at the flea markets in Chelsea. Spinbad’s eighties tapes were also hugely influential; I bit a bunch of these songs from his Rock The Casbah tapes and from DJ Red Alert when he was on the old school at noon on Hot 97.
